Terms & Conditions

The terms governing plant hire from Manchester Diggers.

Last updated: April 2026

Scope

These terms and conditions apply to all plant hire supplied by Manchester Diggers ("we", "us") to the hirer ("you"). By placing an order for hire, you agree to these terms.

Booking & availability

All hire is subject to availability. Same-day hire depends on stock, location, and time of day. We'll confirm availability and a price when you enquire.

Delivery & collection

We offer delivery and collection across Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire, and Merseyside. Delivery is charged separately based on the site location and is confirmed at the time of booking. The hirer is responsible for providing safe, accessible delivery and collection points. Hirers may also collect equipment directly from our Manchester depot — trailers are available to hire alongside.

Hire period

Hire charges run from the delivery (or collection) of equipment to its return. Minimum hire is 1 day for larger plant (excavators, dumpers, material lifts, breakers) and 1 week for smaller items (compaction plates, cement mixers, shoring props). If you keep the machine for an extra day or two, that's not a problem — let us know and we'll extend the booking.

Operator-free hire

All plant is hired on an operator-free basis. The hirer is responsible for safe and competent operation of the equipment on their site.

Damage & loss

The hirer is responsible for the equipment from delivery (or collection) until it is returned. Any damage, loss, or theft during the hire period is chargeable at the repair or replacement cost. We do not currently offer an insurance or damage waiver — hirers should ensure their own cover is in place where appropriate.

Fuel

Petrol and diesel are not included in the hire. Equipment is delivered with a starting level of fuel; return it with the same level or be charged for refuelling.

Payment

Account customers: 30-day payment terms from invoice. Cash accounts: payment required prior to or on delivery. To set up an account, complete an account form before your first hire.

Liability

We are not liable for delays, damage, or consequential loss arising from equipment misuse, site conditions, or matters outside our reasonable control. Our liability for defective equipment is limited to replacement or a refund of the hire charge.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
